Use the Power of Your Mind to Heal Your Body

Hi, my name is Amanda and I’ve been a hypnotherapist in Scotland for over 25 years. During that time my work has gradually moved in a very clear direction: helping people use the mind more effectively to support the body.

I’ve seen how closely physical symptoms are linked to the nervous system, stress responses, fear, and long-term emotional strain. When those patterns are gently addressed, people often notice real changes in how their body copes, with pain, treatment, recovery, and everyday life. Mind How You Go was created from that understanding.

My work now focuses especially on supporting people with:

  • chronic and persistent pain
  • reducing reliance on pain medication where appropriate
  • coping with hospital stays, medical procedures, and ongoing treatment
  • mind–body conditions such as IBS, blood pressure difficulties, and stress-related symptoms
  • phobias connected to needles, hospitals, medical environments, or vomiting

Hypnotherapy does not replace medical care, but it can work alongside it. By calming the nervous system and reducing fear, anticipation, and tension, the body is often better able to regulate pain, recover more efficiently, and respond more calmly to treatment.

I place a strong emphasis on imagination as a practical therapeutic tool. When used deliberately, it can help retrain pain responses, lower stress hormones, improve gut–brain communication, and reduce the intensity of learned fear patterns. This work is gentle, structured, and grounded in experience — not forceful, dramatic, or one-size-fits-all.

Through this website and my YouTube channel, I’m building a growing library of hypnosis and self-hypnosis audios. Many of these are available free of charge, allowing you to explore this approach in your own time and see how your mind responds before committing to anything further.

“I personally believe that we have far more ability to affect our health and, dare I say, to heal ourselves, than we have ever thought possible.”
— Dr David R. Hamilton.

For those who want deeper or more specific support, you can also book directly with me for personalised, premium one-to-one sessions. These are carefully tailored to your individual symptoms, goals, and medical context, and are designed to complement any existing care you may be receiving.

My approach is calm, ethical, and respectful of both your experience and your autonomy. There is no pressure, no pushing, and no expectation that your mind should behave in a certain way. The work is collaborative, paced, and always adapted to you.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment, but many people find it a valuable complementary approach that enhances recovery, resilience, and quality of life.

I created Mind How You Go as a steady, reassuring space, particularly for people who have been living with symptoms, pain, or medical anxiety for a long time, and who want to feel more supported by their own mind rather than at odds with their body.
